Introduction
Today, tourism industry has plays an important role in Malaysia. Tourism has become so significant in social development and contributes to our economic. In 2009, there were 23.6 million tourists arrivals based on the report by the Malaysian Tourism Board, an increase of 7.2% reported in 2008, i.e. on average an average of 64,000 tourist arrivals daily. This was translated to RM53 billion in total receipts and RM34 billion in total GNI contributions which have developed into a major sector of the economy – the second largest foreign exchange earner after manufacturing.
There have many tourism places in Malaysia. One of the famous places is Sabah. Sabah is located in the North of Borneo and is surrounded by the South China Sea to the North, the Sulu Sea to the north east, the Celebes Sea. It is a mountainous country with tropical rainforests and coastal swamp plains intersected by many rivers resulting in diverse ecosystems supporting many unique flora and fauna. In here we can find the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia. Besides, one of the highest mountains in South East Asia, Mount Kinabalu and also one of the world’s top dive sites, Sipadan Island are also located in here.
Sabah is not only richly blessed with nature diversity and unique cultures but also full with fun adventure, beautiful beaches, and fantastic cuisines for the adventurous taste buds. Sabah has more than 30 different ethnic races and over 80 local dialects spoken. There have a culture village with allow tourists to visit and expose. The fantastic cuisines such as Guo Min noodle, Hilltop Fish noodle, Inanam Custard Bread, Damai Roti Kahwin and others also can find in Sabah. The adventure in Sabah sure will give tourists a great and unforgettable experience!

Nowadays, there are many website is promote on tourism of Sabah. According to visitors arrival report 2012 by Immigration Department, Kota Kinabalu, most of the visitors in Sabah tourism is local citizens. Unfortunately we found that most of this website is targeted to tourist from international. There was lack of website that is purposely for local tourist. Therefore, we decide to design and develop a website of Sabah’s tourism that is suitable for local tourist to plan an economic travel.
Objective
i. To promote tourism of Sabah to local citizens
ii. To provide information of Sabah’s tourism for economic travel planning.
iii. To provide a platform for user to share idea or information on tourism of Sabah.
Scope
We have sketch an organizational structure for the website to help us decide what content goes on what page, how many pages we need, how users can link to each page, and what the file name of the page will be. This structure is often represented by site map.
Target audience
Local citizens that with average income.
- Monthly salary is less than RM2800.

Figure 1: The phases of website design
Methodology is used as a guideline for us to complete a project and smooth the process. The figure 1 had shown the phases of website design.
Define phase
In define phase we have to define the aims and scope of project. The purpose is allowing group members to get the clearer picture and direction about the project. Moreover, information gathering also needed in this phase. Therefore, leader has to distribute the tasks to each of the group members. Then, group members can search the information regarding to their task such as tourism in Sabah, others travel website designs, travel viewpoint and so on.
Design phase
Once the objectives are set in define, we need to sketch an organizational structure for the website to help us to decide what content goes on what page, how many pages, how users can link to each page, and what the file name of the page will be. Moreover, we have to plan a basic layout to use as a template for the pages. The strategic planning is able to help us smooth the process.
Develop phase
In develop phase, there is several tasks need to do such as translate static designs into pages which are understood by browsers, populate all the web pages and integrate functionality.
Deploy phase
The website is now almost complete at this phase. We need to test the website in multiple browsers to ensure all the components are working correctly. Then, we can upload the site to server and configure as appropriate. Finally, we can launch the website officially.
